Toll Gate

By Geoffrey Detrani

A conversation between

ingot and logos

both prolifically naked and

blind

Tamerlane who rinsed out the stirrups

of his mattress with a hose

had a maternal expression

nursed from omniscient cuts of the body

So, it was riddled pure

use this scent to annihilate

a blanket of toll gating synapse

regardless of time

Geoffrey Detrani is a visual artist and writer. Previous publications include: Fence, Aufgabe, Black Warrior Review, New Orleans Review, Diagram, and Grotto, among others. Other writing is forthcoming in Antiphony Journal.
